Mr. Hussain Fahmy was appointed as the Managing Director of the Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) on April 14, 2026.
Mr. Fahmy brings over 25 years of extensive leadership experience in the energy sector, public service, and corporate governance to the role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Principal Secretary to the President (Policy & Manifesto) at the President's Office of the Maldives from 2025 to 2026.
His distinguished career includes serving as the Managing Director of the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) from 2023 to 2025, where he led significant financial turnarounds, renewable energy transitions, and the rollout of smart grid technology. Between 1998 and 2023, he held various other senior executive roles at STELCO across business development, procurement, finance, and strategy.
Mr. Fahmy holds an MBA in Financial Services from the University of East London (2009) and an MA in Accountancy from the University of Aberdeen (2003). His deep expertise in policy development and infrastructure strategy is expected to be invaluable to MWSC’s strategic vision.

Abdul Salaam Mohamed was appointed as the Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director of the Board of MWSC on 26th December 2023.
His prior roles within the Maldivian government, including his tenure as an Executive at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure and service as an Atoll Councilor of North Huvadhoo, reflect a deep commitment to advancing the nation’s development.
Mr. Abdul Salaam Mohamed is a Director of Island Beverages Maldives Pvt. Ltd (IBM) to representing Male’ Water and Beverage Company Pvt. Ltd. His position as a non-executive, independent director appointed by the Maldivian government further demonstrates his alignment with public service values and governance principles.

Mr. Hassan Raeef is a highly experienced and accomplished businessman with over 20 years of hands-on work experience. He is the Managing Director at IBB Pvt Ltd, which is reflected in his exceptional leadership qualities and profound understanding of business operations. With a strong educational background and impressive business acumen, Mr. Hassan Raeef offers valuable insights in various areas such as infrastructure, construction, and general trading. His expertise and experience are highly regarded and appreciated in the business community. Mr. Hassan Raeef is a non-executive, independent director of the Board appointed by the Government of Maldives. His appointment reflects the Maldives’ government’s commitment to ensuring diverse perspectives and expertise to guide the strategic direction of MWSC.

Ms. Aishath Roohy was appointed as a Director of the Board of MWSC on 24th December 2023
Her current role is as a Treasury Management Executive, at the Ministry of Finance. Her prior experience as a member of the Privatization and Corporation Board within the Ministry of Finance suggests she’s been involved in strategic decision making related to privatization efforts and the management of state-owned corporations. This demonstrates her extensive experience in financial management and government operations. This hands-on experience will undoubtedly inform her decisions and insights as a director of MWSC.
Ms. Roohy has a rich academic background and in-depth knowledge in accounting. Ms.Roohy’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Accounting with Honours and continuing with a master's in accounting and finance management. Ms. Roohy is a non-executive, independent director of the Board appointed by the Government of Maldives. This underscores her ability to provide valuable oversight to MWSC’s operations.

Mr. Toru Ataka was appointed as a Director of the Board of MWSC on 30th July 2025
Mr. Ataka brings a wealth of experience to the MWSC board, currently serving as Department Manager at Hitachi Ltd.’s Water & Environment Business Division. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing international water infrastructure projects across East Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
With over 25 years of extensive experience in the field, Mr. Ataka began his distinguished career in process and mechanical design. He subsequently transitioned into global project management, where he has successfully led numerous complex initiatives. Notably, he served as Project Manager for the Iraq Basrah Water Improvement Project, a significant international joint venture.
Mr. Ataka holds a degree in Precision Mechanical Engineering from Tokyo Metropolitan University. His expertise will be invaluable to MWSC's strategic vision.

Mr. Umar Hussain was appointed as a Director of the Board of MWSC on 1st April 2026.
Mr. Umar is a highly accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience spanning the public sector, healthcare, and pharmaceutical operations. Throughout his career, he has held numerous senior leadership positions, developing extensive expertise in supply chain and distribution management.
In addition to his corporate and operational background, Mr. Umar served as a Member of Parliament from 2014 to 2019, where he contributed significantly to national legislative and governance processes.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has completed specialized professional training in leadership development.
Mr. Umar brings to the Board a robust capability in operations management, strategic stakeholder coordination, and the enhancement of organizational effectiveness.

Mr. Yoosuf joined the Company in 2006 and has risen through the ranks to be included in the Company’s Executive management from 2018.
He has extensive experience in human resources, administration, supply and logistics, organizational development, strategic planning, and institutional strengthening.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to major human resources and administrative developments within the Company, including people management practices, policy improvements, and organizational support functions.
In his current role, he oversees strategic development functions, supporting organizational planning, strategic initiatives, institutional improvement, and long-term development priorities of the Company.
Mr. Yoosuf has over 20+ years of experience in the Company and his experience in human capital and organizational functions supports his current focus on strategic development, corporate planning, and institutional transformation.
Being a person who promotes a healthy lifestyle, Mr. Yoosuf embraces a habitual running routine and rarely misses the chance to sign-up for marathons.
Mr. Yoosuf holds an MBA with specialization in Strategic Human Resource Management.

Mr. Imran joined the Company in 2003 and has progressed through the ranks to be included in the Company’s executive management team since 2015.
He has over 20 years of experience at MWSC, with contributions across customer service, utility collections, debt recovery, engineering, supply, logistics, and infrastructure development.
Throughout his career, he has supported the improvement of customer-related functions, recovery processes, operational coordination, and service delivery.
He has also contributed to various utility infrastructure development projects undertaken by the Company.
In his current role, he oversees the Customer Experience function, supporting customer service standards, customer engagement, service improvement, and customer-facing operational priorities.
He is also currently serving as a non-executive director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Mr. Imran holds an MBA specializing in Project management from the University of Southern Queensland.

Mr. Shaheem joined the Company in 2007 presenting his promising nature of work has awarded him a placement in the Company’s executive management team in 2022.
He is currently overseeing the Company’s Manufacturing Division where several operations plays a vital role in the Company’s business areas.
Previous roles in Operations and maintenance with relates to electrical system had paved the way for Mr.Shaheem to eventually be specialized in manufacturing where his expertise is provided to function all manufacturing operations of the Company.
With over 16+ years of experience with the Company, Mr.Shaheem has proven himself a steadfast, persuasive and valuable leader.
Mr. Shaheem holds a Masters of Manufacturing Systems Engineering.

Mr. Bushra Hameed joined MWSC in 2000 and became a member of the Company’s Executive Management Team in 2020.
He has over 23 years of experience in engineering, electro-mechanical design, utility infrastructure planning, project execution, technical coordination, and service development.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to the planning, development, and execution of key external utility infrastructure projects, serving in various capacities from team member to team leader.
His technical background and experience in engineering solutions support his current role in driving commercial priorities, business growth, and customer-focused service development.
In his current role, he oversees the Commercial function, supporting commercial strategy, business development, service expansion, customer-related commercial initiatives, and revenue-focused priorities.
Mr. Bushra holds an MSc in Electronic Systems Design Engineering.

Mr. Mohamed Sameer Ali joined MWSC in May 1999 and has been a member of the Company’s Executive Management Team since 2020.
He has extensive experience in civil engineering, utility infrastructure development, engineering project planning, design, and project execution, and business development.
Throughout his career, he has played a key role in MWSC’s entry and growth within the utility infrastructure development and engineering sector.
He has contributed to the execution of several design-and-build water and sewerage infrastructure projects undertaken by the Company.
In his current role, he oversees the Engineering function, supporting engineering planning, infrastructure project development, technical design, project execution, and engineering service delivery.
Mr. Sameer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from KLIUC, Malaysia, and an MBA specializing in Project Management from the University of Southern Queensland.

Mr. Rusthum joined the Company in 2010 and his key inputs in the Company’s operations in water production and maintenance has earned him to be in the executive Management team in 2018.
He is currently overseeing the Company’s Operations Division and has provided his expertise in giving strategic guidance to maintain and develop the water utility operations of the Company which is a key unit of the Company.
Mr. Rusthum is also a council member of the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT).
Mr. Rusthum has over 13+ years of experience in the Company and has given his expertise inputs in all areas of the Company.
Mr. Rusthum holds Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Hunaif joined the Company in 2000 and through career progression in information technology sector, reached the highest with an endorsement of the Company’s Executive management in 2020.
He is currently overseeing the Company’s Information Communications Technology Division being truly the master in providing the required solutions in all aspects of operations within the Company.
With over 23+ years of experience in the Company, he has been key in developing several Company in-built IT solutions that enables smooth functioning of the Company which are also visible to the general public within the seamless interactions.
Mr. Hunaif holds a Master of Science Information Technology Management.

Mr. Ali Shareef joined MWSC in 2023 as Chief Financial Officer.
He brings extensive financial leadership experience across multiple sectors, including experience within the Government and major State-Owned Enterprises.
His professional background includes financial management, strategic financial planning, budgeting, reporting, governance, and oversight of complex financial responsibilities.
He has consistently demonstrated strong financial acumen, strategic insight, and experience in supporting organizational growth and financial sustainability.
In his current role, he oversees MWSC’s financial management, budgeting, financial planning, reporting, financial governance, and overall financial sustainability.
Mr. Ali was appointed as a Board Director of Island Beverages Maldives Pvt. Ltd., a sister company of MWSC, on 4 February 2025.
Mr. Ali is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holder of a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Hertfordshire University.

Ms. Mariyam Nashaya joined MWSC in 2016 and was appointed General Manager of Human Capital and Admin in May 2026.
She has extensive experience in business development, project development, strategic planning, performance monitoring, and corporate planning.
Throughout her tenure at the Company, she has also contributed to the planning, coordination, and monitoring of key organizational initiatives, supporting the Company’s development priorities and strategic objectives.
In her current role, she oversees the Company’s human capital and administrative functions, including workforce planning, employee services, policy implementation, organizational development, and administrative operations.
Her experience in strategy and planning enables her to effectively align people, culture, and administrative frameworks with MWSC’s broader corporate objectives and operational goals.
Ms. Nashaya holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Mr. Abdulla Shahid serves as the Chief Internal Auditor of MWSC, following his appointment to the role in December 2020.
He leads the Internal Audit Function, providing independent assurance and advisory services to support effective governance, risk management, and internal control processes across the organization.
His role is instrumental in ensuring that MWSC’s operations and business processes remain well-controlled, compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and aligned with good governance practices.
Mr. Shahid has over 15 years of auditing experience, encompassing both internal and external audit engagements across various sectors.
He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds the globally recognized Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.

Mr. Mohamed Eyman joined MWSC in 2006 and has since built nearly two decades of progressive experience within the Company, rising through technical and managerial roles to become a member of the Senior Management Team in 2019
He is currently overseeing the Company’s Procurement and Logistics Division, having assumed the role of General Manager in February 2026.
Throughout his career, Mr. Eyman has been deeply involved in quality management and played a pivotal role in the Company attaining and sustaining internationally recognized certifications across quality management, occupational health and safety, laboratory, and food safety management systems, while also serving as Business Continuity Manager, leading the development and implementation of the Company's Business Continuity and Crisis Management Plans, and consistently ensuring that technical and quality-related functions are aligned with the Company's service requirements.
His extensive background in quality management and regulatory compliance has equipped him with a rigorous, process-oriented approach that he now brings to the critical functions of procurement, logistics, and supply chain management.
He is responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing of goods and services, procurement governance, inventory coordination, and logistics planning that underpin MWSC’s day-to-day operations and long-term objectives.
Mr. Eyman holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore.

Ms. Aishath Lua Shaheer was appointed General Manager, Corporate & Legal at MWSC in June 2026, having previously served as Head of Legal and Company Secretary.
She leads the Company's Corporate and Legal Division and has played a key role in advising on major infrastructure projects, corporate governance matters, regulatory affairs, commercial transactions, and dispute resolution matters.
She has also represented the Company in litigation proceedings before courts and tribunals across different levels of the Maldivian judiciary.
Prior to joining MWSC, Ms. Lua served as a Public Prosecutor and has been a registered legal practitioner in Maldives since 2011.
Outside of work, Ms. Lua is actively involved in pro bono legal work and community initiatives and enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures.
Ms. Lua holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Laws from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Leo Cussen Centre for Law.
