MWSC has officially inaugurated the water and sewerage system in R. Fainu.

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Pvt Ltd has completed the water and sewerage system in the island of R. Fainu.

A special ceremony was held in the island to mark the inauguration, honored by the presence of His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The event was attended by MWSC’s Managing Director, Abdul Matheen Mohamed, state ministers, and the residents of R. Fainu.

Under the contract with the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, MWSC designed and constructed a comprehensive water and sewerage network system in the island. The project includes two state-of-the-art RO plants capable of producing 20 tons of water daily and water and sewer connections for 130 households. Additionally, a 490-ton water storage tank, two 175-ton tanks, an administrative building, three pump stations, and sea outfall and reject lines were established. Equipment for water quality testing and vehicles for operations and maintenance were also provided.

The project, initiated on March 1, 2021, was completed and commissioned on March 2, 2024, with a total investment of MVR 64.24 million.

Providing clean drinking water and a safe sewerage system to the people of R. Fainu marks a significant milestone in improving the quality of life for its residents. MWSC remains committed to delivering essential utility services to ensure the well-being of communities across the Maldives.
