MWSC Participates in Fishermen’s Day Activities in R. Dhuvaafaru

MWSC participated in the Fishermen’s Day celebrations held this year in R. Dhuvaafaru. As part of the national Fishermen’s Day observance organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, MWSC joined the activities as a Title Sponsor.

Under this sponsorship, MWSC served as the Title Sponsor of the “MWSC Mas Race” and also took part in the “MIFCO Masveringe Haveeru” children’s festival by conducting interactive stall activities. MWSC employees actively participated in the events, contributing to the overall success of the celebrations.

The Fishermen’s Day activities, held in R. Dhuvaafaru on 12–13 December, form part of a government-led programme aimed at encouraging youth participation to diversify and strengthen the fisheries industry.

In addition, MWSC engaged with fishermen and the Dhuvaafaru community to gather public feedback on services provided on the island—particularly the supply of locally produced ice and bottled water—while also raising awareness about these essential services. To further strengthen communication and accessibility, a Viber community group was introduced to share service updates, information, and promotional details relevant to Dhuvaafaru and nearby islands.

R. Dhuvaafaru is an island where MWSC provides integrated utility services, including water and sewerage services, as well as electricity services and solid waste management, under its operational mandate. In addition, MWSC operates a bottled water and ice production facility on the island, further supporting community needs and the local fisheries sector.
